Targeted towards and practically required for wildland firefighters – users whose lives literally depend on the accurate weather data their Kestrel 3000 provides – in both fighting fires and controlled burn situations. This Kestrel 3000 model was a principle factor that changed firefighting equipment standards from the previous standard, the belt weather kit. It cut the weight of dated weather packs, confusion, and time, to this minimalist approach that was revolutionary in firefighting, where users lives literally depend on the accurate weather data their Kestrel 3000 provides.
*Fire departments now favour the more advanced Kestrel 3550FW, or the top of the range Kestrel 5500 Fire Weather Meter Pro, along with the field calibration kit, a very common accessory that ensures meters deliver accurate measurements.
The Kestrel 3000 has RH (Relative Humidity), it's quick and easy to use, and very cost-effective. It's also perfect for storm chasers, and professional and collegiate athletic trainers – frequently used by AFL trainers to determine how frequently the athletes need to hydrate, and when the conditions are unhealthy for strenuous exercise.
You know you’re working hard – make sure you’re staying safe. The Kestrel 3000 pocket weather meter keeps you from working past your limits.
NK was the first to provide accurate relative humidity measurements from a hand-held weather meter, and the Kestrel 3000 features two patents on its humidity measuring sensors.
From the Kestrel 3000's accurate relative humidity readings, it also calculates the dewpoint and heat stress index – important information to know when working or playing outdoors in hot and humid conditions.
Get the power of real-time, on-site environmental conditions monitoring with the Kestrel 3000 Heat Stress Monitor.
Every Kestrel environmental instrument is designed and built entirely in the USA. Kestrel’s history and focus on quality and ruggedness is reflected in the Kestrel 3000's industry-leading 5-year warranty. Innovatively designed for stability and accuracy in abrupt condition changes. Kestrel has been building rugged environmental instruments that help people do their jobs more safely and efficiently for more than fifteen years and has built a reputation for reliability one meter at a time.

Impeller:
Every Kestrel Meter features a large, 1” impeller mounted on a sapphire jewel bearing, which means it starts rotating with the slightest puff of air – 0.48 km/h to be exact! This patented impeller is user-replaceable by simply pushing it out with your thumbs, which means it can easily be replaced if it is damaged or worn. The measurements from the wind impeller are taken magnetically. The impeller is not glued or attached to the unit. Because every new impeller is calibrated in the wind tunnel at the USA factory, if your application demands regular calibration, simply pop in a new impeller and the Kestrel Wind Meter is restored to like-new factory calibration standards. The Kestrel 3000 can easily be switched between °F, °C, mph, km/h, ft/min, m/s, knots and Beaufort.
